Pachmarhi is the lovely hill station located in the Satpura Hills. It is the only hill station in Central India. Lush green forests with sal trees, calm streams, milky waterfalls, rivers make this hill station an enchanting tourist place. Pachmarhi got its name by the presence of five Pandava caves. Captain James Forsyth in Year 1857 chanced upon saucer -shaped valley and recommended it to be developed as a sanatorium. There are lots os churches and cemeteries in Pachmarhi which create nostalgia about colonial period. Pachmarhi is untouched and escaped reckless plunder suffered by other hill stations.
Christ Church has got enchanting architecture and is the most attractive small church in Madhya Pradesh. It was constructed in 1875 by the British. You will be hooked by the architecture of the church. Sanctum-sanctorum of the Christ church in Pachmarhi has a hemi-spherical dome on top with its ribs ending with faces of angles. Its walls and rear of the altar are adorned beautifully with stain- Glass panes imported from Europe. When Sun rays strike them, they present astonishing view. There is not a single pillar to support in its nave. The baptismal font is a rare brass piece. The bell at the church is as old as the church and you can hear its chime from a long distance.
