Introduction
The city of Orchha is situated in the state of Madhya Pradesh in central India. The city is located on the banks of River Betwa in Madhya Pradesh, 16 kilometers away from Jhansi, and is encircled by fascinating hills and loads of greenery. The historical memorials of Orchha narrate the stories of war and peace, love and devastation and still retain the unspoiled charm. Bundela Rajput chieftain Rudra Pratap selected the land along the Betwa River as a perfect location for his capital and hence, Orchha was established in the 16th Century. In spite of being a derelict land, Orchha is still not forgotten. The stones of the beautiful monuments in Orchha are plastered on top and during the evenings the beauty of the city increases.
Phool Bagh is a formal flower garden built by the Bundela Kings of Bundelkhand. Phool Bagh is a compound surrounded by walls and is located in the city of Orchha in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh. Phool Bagh is a cool summer retreat and is positioned just next to the Palki Mahal.
Laid out as a formal flower garden, Phool Bagh has an underground palace and an eight-pillared palace pavilion. There is a bowl-like structure called Chandan Katora, from whose fountains, droplets of water are percolated through to the roof, just like rainfall. The subterraneous palace is well linked with this Chandan Katora through an adroit system of water ventilation.
