History of Kanch Mandir
The Kanch Mandir is built by Sir Hukumchand Seth who was called ‘the cotton king’. The foundation of the Kanch Temple was laid during the 20th century by Hukumchand Seth. The main idol of the temple is Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankar.
Description of Kanch Mandir
The whole of the Kanch Temple is built with glass, including the walls, the pillars, ceiling, floor and doors. The mirror work inside the Kanch temple is intricately designed, displaying the beautiful detailed patterns. There are colored glass paintings that talk of stories from the Jain scriptures. The special glass chamber at the top produces a multiplied effect of the statues of Lord Mahavira, supposedly 21 images reflecting the 21 Tirthankars.
