Introduction
Ramghat is one of the most visited Ghats of Chitrakoot frequented by many pilgrims and tourists throughout the year. It is located on the banks of the Mandakini River, whose beautiful and sparkling blue green waters add a natural mystifying beauty to the site.
History
Legend says that Lord Rama, his brother Laxman and Sita, while on their exile, lived in Chitrakoot for a long time and made Ramghat their bathing place. The well known saint poet Tulsidas supposedly witnessed the holy sight of Lord Rama and Laxman at Ramghat, when he was asked by Lord to mark a Tilak on his forehead.
Description
Ramghat is the most beautiful Ghat in Chitrakoot visited by religious pilgrims and sightseers. A group of temples flank the Ramghat called the Puri around which the devotees travel, also during the Parikrama. Ramghat in Chitrakoot portrays a busy and ever changing hub of Religious activities and rituals. The major attraction in Ramghat is the beautiful 'Aarti' that is performed every evening, which enhances the consecrated and blessed feel of Ramghat. Ramghat presents a sacred sight of a religious mystifying blend of holy men, smell of incense, chanting of hymns and the beautiful river.
How To Reach
The main railway station to Chitrakoot is Karwi which is connected to all well known cities in India. There are bus facilities available to reach Ramghat with Karwi being the District main Bus stand, 8 km from Chitrakoot.
