History states that kamadgiri, the forests and the hills were the original Chitrakoot , a place where Lord Rama, his brother Laxman and wife Sita stayed for 11 years on their exile. Lord Kamtanath, another name for Lord rama is the principal deity of not only AKamadgiri, but the whole Chitrakoot.
