Asirgarh fort was the once significant fort from point of view of South India. Nestled in Satpura Hills at an altitude of 750 m, located at about 20 km from Burhanpur, Asirgarh fortress is now in ruins. But it has its own glorious and colorful past. In heydays, it was called Baab-e-dakhan (Gateway to South India). It was quite a impregnable fortress and importance lied in the fact that, conquest over this fort meant control over deccan, Khandesh in the past.
