The women folk are the main initiators in the whole festival. The grand part of the festival is marked by a procession with the divine idols of Gangaur and Isar to be carried on their heads by the women.
The local people also takes part in the procession and is able to pat homage to the Mother goddess.
The procession advances towards the Pichola Lake winding through the Gangaur Ghat. Here the pujas are done with great devotion.
The festival is an ideal location to have a glimpse in the cultural life of Udaipur. The air is filled with laughter and folk songs and dances by men and women alike.
The days of festivity culminates with a firework display on the banks of the Pichola Lake. The night sky dazzles with all the lighting.
