The Marwar Festival is held in the Hindu month of Ashwin or October according to the English calendar in the former capital of the Marwar province, Jodhpur. This festival is dedicated to the bravery and gallantry of the Rajput heroes of the yester years and generally lasts for two days.
With the majestic Mehangarh Fort and the Umaid Bhawan Palace giving the appropriate background, this place is ideal for the festival to take place. Originally known as the Maand festival, this festival takes place during the full moon day of Sharad Purnima. Maand was a classical folk music which was derived from the romantic lifestyle of Rajasthan rulers.
