Kullu Valley draws a large number of tourists to its fairs and festivals. Among all other fairs and festivals in Himachal Pradesh, the fairs in Kullu Valley draw special notice because of their uniqueness.
Most of these festivals are observed to celebrate the victory of good over the evil and also to appease the deities, thus reflecting the traditional faith of the localites. Seven-day festival Dusshera is held annually in October.

Hundreds of local deities are brought on palanquins in processions to Dhaulpur Maidan

The chariots are taken to the bank of Beas River on the last day and bushes are burnt to symbolize the burning of Lanka.
Thereafter Lord Raghunathji is brought back to his abode in Raghunathpur.
