The Kutch Peninsula with its distinctive character, colorful people, ancient towns, handicrafts make for a worth visiting tourist destination. Organized by the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited and held in the months of February an extensive tour of this enchanting place is called the Mahotsava, or the Kutch Utsav. The last day of the Utsav generally coincides with the auspicious day of Shivaratri. The campsite is at Bhuj.
With a heterogeneous population consisting of 18 tribes, speaking different languages and imbibing different cultures, the Kutch peninsula with its rich diversity and the desert festival makes for a welcome change for the urban people.

By Rail: Located 1 km north of the city is Bhuj. Trains passing through Bhuj are few so one may take a train either from Palanpur or Gandhidham.
By Road: State Roadway buses as well as private buses are also available. Bus services are available for Ahmedabad, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Regular Bus services to villages around Bhuj are also available.
