Named after the sons of king Shantunu, Chitravirya and Vichitravirya the Chitra Vichitra fair is held in the month of March, a fortnight after the Holi festival. The venue of the fair is the village of Gunbhakhari in Sabarkantha district of Gujarat, located in close proximity to the borders of Rajasthan.
The Fair grounds are full of fun and color. Life in its different hues can be seen to be reflected in all. The main attraction of the fair is the magnificent temple which overlooks the rivers Sabarmati, Akul and Vyakul. The fair also gives us an opportunity to take a glimpse in the social life and customs of the Adivasis (tribal people).

Chitra Vichitra fair is the largest tribal fair and is visited by a large number of Bhils and Garasia, tribes residing in the neighboring areas.
Dressed in their traditional colorful attire, the men looks dashing in a dhoti, blue shirt and turban. The women look lovely in ghagras and are adorned with heavy silver jewellery.
The different tribal groups come prepared with their individual musical instruments. The air is soon filled by the rhythm of the drum beats.
Like any other fair, the Chitra Vichitra fair too is full of usual household items and refreshments. The merry go round and giant wheel give you the opportunity to have fun at the fair.

The best time to visit is the month of March, just a few days after the holi festival.
