Location
Chennai is situated in South East India, at 13°N latitude and 80°E longitude, in Tamil Nadu, on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal.
Climate
The climate is hot and humid for most of the year. The sea breeze moderates the humidity. The temperature in summer can go up to 42 degrees therefore adequate precautions need to be taken to avoid the intense heat, such as wearing light cotton clothing, wearing a hat or sunshade while going outdoors and drinking plenty of liquids.
It rains quite heavily during the monsoon but the climate in winter is pleasant and suited for traveling.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to tour Chennai is during the winter months from October to February.
