Mecca Masjid

Situated in close proximity to the famed Charminar, this beautiful mosque can accommodate around 10,000 people at a time. The design of the Mecca Masjid is patterned on Grand Mosque at Mecca, and also derives its name from it. There is a room in the courtyard of the Mecca Masjid which is said to preserve the sacred hair of the Prophet Mohammed. Construction of this mosque began in 1614 AD, during the reign of Sultan Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah, but was completed in 1687 AD.
Jama Masjid
Located at a few meters away from the Charminar, the Jama Masjid is the oldest mosque in Hyderabad. It was built in the year 1597 AD by Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah, after the completion of the Charminar. Within the premises of the mosque lie the ruins of an old Turkish bath.
