Shopping
Agra has both traditional and modern shopping areas. It is known for leather products, jewelry, rug weaving and marble work. The Sadar Bazaar area, and the area south of Taj Ganj, has many emporia and shops. Shilpgram or the Crafts Village is located 1 km from the eastern side of the Taj Mahal, from where you can buy artifacts and decorative items.
Taj Mahotsav
Agra city is known for its Taj Mahotsav (Taj Festival). This cultural festival is held every year in the month of February. The Taj Mahotsav brings the best of India's classical musicians and dancers to a single platform for the tourist to appreciate.
Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary
Situated 55 km from Agra, The Koladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary at Bharatpur hosts a variety of bird species including many migratory birds that fly south from Central Asia and beyond in winter. Close to 380 species of birds are found in this 29 sq km stretch, approximately 10 sq km of which comprises of marshes and bogs. The rest of the area comprises of scrublands, grasslands and more than 44,000 trees that are used for nesting by the visiting birds each year. The rare Siberian Crane has been known to nest here in the past and the sheer number of birds that nest here in winter, make this sanctuary an ornithologists delight.
